Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education at Timu Academy
helps children to gain the knowledge, skills and understanding they will need to develop into confident, respectful, healthy and independent individuals who are prepared to live and work in modern Britain.
PSHE lessons allow children to explore how they can keep themselves physically and emotionally healthy and safe both online and off line. It gives children time to reflect on healthy relationships and explore what an unhealthy relationship is and how it could make you feel. PSHE helps children to realise their importance in the world and how to care for our planet and the people around us. It gives them opportunities to further develop their understanding of democracy, rights and responsibilities and the respect and tolerance of different beliefs, faiths and opinions at a level appropriate to the children’s age.
PSHE is embedded throughout out the wider curriculum, supporting subjects such as PE, science and computing. This is complimented by a wealth of enrichment activities such as residential trips, school visits, outside agencies and sporting events. We also offer support to individuals and small groups through targeted nurture groups and 1:1 ELSA sessions.
