World Book Day 2022
This week we celebrated World Book Day’s 25th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, we ran a cake competition where children were invited to enter cakes that had been decorated with a book theme. We had so many wonderful entries, not to mention some delicious smelling classrooms by the end of the day! Three cakes from across the community were chosen as our winners. A huge well done to all the children who entered.
Our celebrations for the day itself began with each key stage adopting an author for the morning, exploring some of their most loved texts in creative ways. Key stage one took on the works of Julia Donaldson, whilst Key stage two focused their attention on Roald Dahl.
Our World Book Day afternoon allowed children to celebrate their favourite texts. Each child across the school designed and then decorated a stone featuring images from their most loved book. These stones will become part of our outdoor reading area to spark lots of engaging conversations and book suggestions amongst our children. They will also serve as a reminder of our fun filled World Book Day celebrations.
Finally, all classes ended the day by throwing World Book Day a 25th Birthday party! Bunting and paper chains were created and book themed games were played as children celebrated their love of reading.
